Avantha Group signs $15 mn deal with Spanish company

The deal is to supply power equipment for a project in Kenya

Avantha Group Company CG has signed a Rs 90-crore deal with Spain's Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion S A U for supplying power equipment for a project in Kenya.

The order, worth USD 15 million (about Rs 90 crore), involves supply of six power transformers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers etc. The Nairobi Metropolitan Ring project is scheduled for completion by 2014-end, Avantha Group said in a statement.

The power equipment will be installed in the new substations at Isinya, Suswa, Ngong, Athi River and Koma Rock, the statement said.

Earlier in 2013, CG provided substation and automation equipment to Iberdrola (Smart Grid project) in Spain, the US and the UK.

Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion S A U is supervising the Nairobi Metropolitan Ring project.

"We are delighted that CG will play a pivotal role in Kenya Electricity Transmission Company's initiative to upgrade Nairobi's power transmission infrastructure and ensure power transmission reliability in this region," Avantha Group Company CG CEO and Managing Director Laurent Demortier said in the statement.
