The Civil Aviation Ministry has been informed about the afternoon rush witnessed at Goa's Dabolim airport because of the Indian Navy's regular flying sorties there in the morning hours.
The Dabolim international airport operates as a civil enclave in a military airbase named INS Hansa.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha, during his Goa visit last week, was briefed about the afternoon rush at the airport which increases the time taken by a passenger from his entry in the airport building to the boarding gate.
"The Indian Navy uses the airport for its regular sorties between 8.30 AM to 12.30 PM due to which there is a rush between 12.30-3.30 PM as the passenger flights operate during that peak time," Dabolim Airport director BCH Negi told PTI today.
"This is the period (12.30-3.30 PM) when the time taken by passengers between entry in the airport to boarding goes up to 30 minutes. We want to reduce this timing further. During lean time, the passenger can enter airport and will be at the boarding point within ten minutes," he said.
"The minister might request the Indian Navy to shift its timings of sortie so that the afternoon congestion is solved," Negi said.
