"In a new initiative, spoken and written English classes were also conducted for these trainees in order to make them fluent in English as this is a necessary requirement for interface at airports," CISF Director General Rajiv said.

A total of 726 Assistant Security Inspectors (Executive), including 118 women, were inducted into the CISF as the first batch of Aviation Security personnel after they completed their 45-week basic training at the Regional Training Centre near here.

The newly inducted officers were given extensive training in airport security and have completed Basic Aviation Security Course, based on the parameters set by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, he said.

"These young officers have done AVSEC Course and have been trained on operation of X-BIS machines and other sophisticated gadgets," Rajiv added.

Though the CISF has already been manning 59 airports in the country, this is the first time it had trained a separate batch of personnel through a special module.

Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh earlier reviewed the Passing Out Parade at the training centre.
