Keeping with the IBL's policy that each franchisee must include one promising Under-19 Indian player in addition to those players picked up at the auction, Vinay Kumar was picked up by Awadhe Warriors from their catchment area to complete the team's player list.
To his credit, Vinay Kumar has represented India in the Badminton Asia Youth Championship U-19 Boys doubles and mixed doubles held at Sabah, Malaysia in July this year, a statement from the organisers said.
Besides this, last year Vinay Kumar also played in the 12th United India Insurance RSC All India Junior Ranking tournament held at Kochi where he was the runner-up in the mixed doubles category.
The 2013 IBL will feature six franchises and will run for 18 days. Each franchise will host a two-day leg and the league will showcase a grand total of 90 matches.
The top four franchises in the Vodafone IBL will clash in the semi-finals and the winners will meet in the grand final on August 31, which will be played in Mumbai.
