"Don't think the national award for Jatiswar has changed the perception about me among my listeners. My single Puja albums had topped charts even before that and my other playbacks were also liked by the film-going public," Rupankar told PTI on the sidelines of an event here last evening.
Rupankar, who was however happy with the recognition for Jatiswar songs, was present at the album launch 'Achena Hathe' by young US-based molecular biologist Rudrashankar.
"Lyrics, voice, rendition and tune composition are essentials to make a track connect to the audience. And the present day Bengali songs are more closer to modern poetry with strong and rich imageries," he said.
"I liked the format where the tracks have been incorporated in musical plays," celebrated singer Jayati Chakraborty said.

Rudrashankar said when contacted, "I feel humbled as I am a great admirer of Rupankar."
"People often think those who hail from science background cannot enjoy the nuances of poetry. But this is far from true. Poetry is in everywhere," he said.
