The Centre will take all initiatives to bring Ayurvedic medicines to the mainstream of medical treatment, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda said here today.
Inaugurating an Ayurveda seminar here, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also keen on promoting this system of medicine in the country, which should be elevated as a symbol of the country's tradition and heritage.
The Government on its part would promote and integrate all ancient medicinal systems in the country, he said.
"Government is keen to promote all traditional systems of medicines under AYUSH Mission," he said, adding, it would also provide all support to state governments working to promote traditional systems of medicine.
Nadda pointed out that about 60 per cent deaths in the country are due to non-communicable diseases brought on by lifestyles and said Ayurveda is a comprehensive system of medicine which can challenge such diseases.
