Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad today stressed on adopting advanced earthquake engineering technology in construction works to minimise loss of life and property during any calamity.
"This region is under seismic zone and structures here must have ability to sustain earthquake shocks," Azad said while reviewing relief and rehabilitation work at quake-affected areas of erstwhile district Doda.
"The recent earthquake tells us to understand the gravity of the issue and adopt latest technology in construction works so that loss of life and property could be minimised in any such natural calamity," he said.
Azad, who is on a visit to earthquake affected areas of the state said, before going ahead with any construction plan, technical advice must be taken.
"All affected families will be provided relief and help by the government for rehabilitation, for which coordinated efforts are being made by the state as well as the Centre," he said.
"Assessment of damages to residential as well as government properties is going on across the entire region by teams deputed to conduct surveys at block, tehsil and village levels," Azad added.
