Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be the chief guest of the occasion, which will be attended by other dignitaries including Minister of State for Health Santosh Chaudhary and Congress MP from Sangrur, Vijay Inder Singla, a PGIMER release said here today.
The Punjab government has allocated 25 acres of land to the institute for setting up of the Centre.
The Satellite Centre shall have 300 bedded teaching hospital in the first phase with outreach community health services programme for predominantly rural population, it said.
There will be provision for 24 hour emergency services along with out-patient and in-patient services.

In addition, there will be two super-speciality departments of Hepatology and Nephrology keeping in view high prevalence of alcoholic liver diseases and kidney diseases. This will expand in due course of time as per requirements, it said.
A Population Based Cancer Registry (PBCR) has already been initiated in Sangrur in partnership with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and PGIMER.
The common causes of morbidity in Sangrur as per District Human Development Report 2010 are respiratory diseases, gastro-intestinal diseases, skin related diseases, hematological diseases, ophthalmic diseases, diabetes, hypertension and cancer.
Sangrur presently has a district civil hospital, three sub-divisional hospitals, six community health centres, 39 primary health centres and 68 subsidiary health centres that include rural dispensaries and 194 sub-centres.
