At a meeting between Foreign Secretaries of the two countries here, Bangladesh also raised the issue ot Teesta water-sharing which could not be signed last year because of strong opposition by UPA constituent Trinamool Congress.

Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai told his Bangladesh counterpart Mijarul Quayes that internal consultations were in progress and the matter will be taken forward once a consensus is reached.

After holding Foreign Office Consultations with Mathai, Quayes told reporters that Dhaka has proposed revival of interface between district administrations of bordering areas in both the countries to help stop incidents of killing.

He said that Bangladesh conveyed the sense of urgency on India implementing the agreement over land boundary demarcation and exchange of adversely-held enclaves, signed during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Dhaka in September last year, "as it is important to deliver on it".

"It's not in the interest of Bangladesh or in the interest of India to make a commitment and not deliver on it", Quayes said.

He said "we have been assured by the Indian side that efforts are on to implement the land boundary agreement".

The Indian government has to get the agreement ratified by Parliament before implementing it as it involves exchange of land. MORE
