B.Ed students call off stir
Press Trust of India Namakkal (TN) Around 100 B.Ed students of a private college, who were on a dharna inside the campus for the past two days pressing various demands, today withdrew their stir after district officials assured speedy action to address their grievances.
The students of the CMS college were protesting against the authorities refusal to allow buses inside the college campus and also demanding steps to get government approval for their course.
They alleged that the management did not get government's approval for the ten month B.Ed.Course and demanded enough training for practical classes and also getting clearance to appear for the government examinations.
District Collector V Dadshinamurthy today visited the college and held talks with the agitating students. The college authorities informed that the matter of approval was pending in court and assured to take steps for speedy disposal of the same.
Following this, the students agreed to withdraw their stir and attend the classes from tomorrow, officials said.
