The 19-year-youth, identified as Ankur Mittal, and his father, Gauri Shankar Mittal, were handed over to police for registration of a case under the appropriate sections of law.
"The matter occurred at around 12:15 P.M. After the father-son duo, who live in the Rohini area of Outer Delhi, reached the Licensing Unit at Defence Colony for renewal of their arms licences.
"They took token number 119 from the reception of this office and, after the inspection of their weapons -- a .315 bore rifle and a .25 bore pistol, reached the Public Lounge II (Arms Section) counter No.4," said a senior police official.
To support his claim, he produced a Delhi Police ID card valid till March 31, 2015.

However, her suspicious aroused over the said ID card, the woman officer referred the matter to her senior who, upon trying to verify the ID card on the department software, found that there was no record for the same.
Further verification with the Security Unit of Delhi Police revealed that the said ID card was issued to one Head Constable Sunil. A check thereupon of Ankur's driving licence gave away his actual identity.
