B-Town celebs pay tribute to Richard Attenborough

Calling him an 'inspirational director' and 'wonderful human being', several Bollywood celebrities including Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor and Shekhar Kapur mourned the death of Oscar-winning filmmamker Richard Attenborough.
The British actor-director, who struggled for 20 years to bring the life of Mahatma Gandhi on-screen in the 1982 film, died after prolonged illness, just four days before his 91st birthday.
Actor-director Anupam Kher said he met Attenborough during the casting of 'Gandhi'.
"Had the honour of meeting Sir Richard Attenborough during the casting of 'Gandhi'. He was a wonderful human being & a great director. RIP," Kher tweeted.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur worked with Attenborough in his 1998 movie 'Elizabeth' and remembered him saying, "Beautiful memories of Richard Attenborough as Lord Cecil in 'Elizabeth'. Amazing director. Amazing actor to work with. Amazing human being."

Actor Alok Nath, who made his film debut with 'Gandhi', tweeted, "The man who reinvented the Mahatma for the whole world to see & know, director of my debut film 'Gandhi', sir Richard Attenborough rest in peace sir."

Actor Anil Kapoor said, "I learnt more about the Mahatma from Attenborough's 'Gandhi' than the history lessons in school. Unforgettable, honest & inspirational."
'Madras Cafe' helmer Shoojit Sircar also condoled the iconic filmmaker's death saying, "Rip Richard Attenborough.. dies at 90... Directed 'Gandhi'... The only biopic we are proud of."
"One of the greats of cinema Lord Attenborough is no more 'Brighton Rock' to 'Jurassic Park'. A bridge to far to Gandhi -- He lives for ever," 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra posted on Twitter.

Actor Rahul Bose said, "Still remember Richard Attenborough's tribute to Mahatma Gandhi when 'Gandhi' won best film at the Oscars. RIP."
Noted author and columnist Shobhaa De tweeted, "Richard Attenborough convinced the world that a Mahatma did indeed walk the earth. RIP.
