B V Rama Gopal takes over as IOC director, refineries

B V Rama Gopal has taken over as director (refineries) of Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the nation's biggest oil firm.
He was previously the executive director (in-charge) of the company's Panipat Refinery and Petrochemicals Complex, India's largest integrated refinery-cum-petrochemicals complex, and the third largest of its kind in Asia.
IOC Group owns and operates 11 of India's 23 refineries, with a combined refining capacity of 80.7 million tonnes per annum.
"Rama Gopal joins the IOC Board at a time when the company has charted an exciting growth trajectory for its refineries division, with mega projects of over Rs 70,000 crore under execution over the next three years," a company statement said.
The main projects are: upgradation of major units at various group refineries for roll out of BS-VI grade fuels by April 2020 as well as expansion of refineries at Barauni, Koyali and Panipat.
He shall also be spearheading the completion of major petrochemical projects at Paradip and Bongaigaon refineries.
A chemical engineer, Rama Gopal has over three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, the statement added.
