BA, Lufthansa to offer spl fare, products to Indian travellers

British Airways and Lufthansa are among several international carriers coming up with special fares and products to target the high-end Indian air traveller.
British Airways (BA) came out with a limited period 20 per cent discount for its business class flights to North America, while Lufthansa announced introduction of a new class of premium economy from Saturday.
The BA business class (Club World) offer is up for sale till tomorrow for outbound travel slated on or before December 31, a spokesperson said.
BA Regional Commercial Manager Christopher Fordyce said 2014 "is a special year for us at British Airways as we celebrate 90 years in India. We want to thank our customers with a great chance to indulge themselves and enjoy unmatched service on board British Airways."
German carrier Lufthansa also announced the global roll- out of its premium economy class which would be available from November 22 for the first time on the Bangalore-London route, where the airline would operate a jumbo Boeing 747-8 aircraft.
The airline's South Asia Director Wolfgang Will said "currently, the new Premium Economy is available on the Frankfurt-Bangalore route on the B747-8 aircraft and we expect it to be available on all long haul routes in India in 2015."

The other global cities where this product is being introduced are Buenos Aires, Chicago, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Peking, Sao Paolo, Seoul, Tokyo-Haneda and Washington.
Other foreign carriers like Qatar Airways, Emirates and Singapore Airlines have earlier offered discounted fares and new products on their flights specially in the Indian market to attract fliers from here.
