The remote and backward areas should be given priority while developing industrial corridors in the state, J-K Minister Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said here today.
The Minister for Industries and Commerce said for the development of these areas the government has planned a special industrial package.
While reviewing the performance of Industries and Commerce department in Jammu province, Kichloo emphasised the need for conducting a fresh survey in all districts for setting up area specific industries.
"Local entrepreneurs should be given priority in the allotment of land in various industrial estates," the Minister said.
Kichloo said the geography and topography of an area needs to be considered while formulating plans and setting up industrial units in the area.
He asked the General Managers of various District Industry Centers to create land banks in each district to set up industrial estates.
Kitchloo also ordered them to cancel lease of industrial plots where entrepreneurs have failed to set up their units within the prescribed time.
