Presiding over a meeting here, the Chief Minister asked the Punjab Skill Development Mission to complete the construction of skill centres in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Bathinda to begin their maiden skill training sessions from coming July.
The Mission, which was entrusted with the task of running these centres, had been asked to tie up with prominent companies and industrial groups and make them training partners to provide best skill training to youth according to needs of the local industry.
Badal was informed that nearly 1500 to 2000 students would be imparted skill training in these five centres every year.
These centres are being built at a cost of Rs 60 crore and have been provided with hostels, where 500 students can be accommodated.
The officers assured the Chief Minister that construction work of these skill centres would be completed by May 31 and in Ludhiana by June 30.
