Congress today lashed out at the Badal family and accused them of allegedly neglecting education and healthcare in the state.
Addressing a workers' meet on the second day of his tour of 117 Assembly segments, state PCC president Partap Singh Bajwa asked activists to highlight shortcomings of SAD-BJP government and the unkempt promises of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his daughter-in-law MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
"They are selective in development works and suit them according to their political needs," he said alleging, Badal family had brought drug abuse in Malwa to secure votes.
Several people in Malwa region were suffering from cancer and have no place to go for treatment, Bajwa said adding, though SAD had promised free treatment of cancer patients in its election manifesto, no cancer hospital was opened here.
Harsimrat Kaur, who boasts to be a champion of women's cause and runs a trust has no interest in saving the girl child and is exploiting sentiments of people by playing politics, alleged the PCC chief.
Accusing Harsimrat for not uttering a word in support of Harbinder Kaur, the dalit girl of Tarn Taran who was beaten up by police few months back, Bajwa said "the SAD-BJP government tried its best to protect the guilty. Action was taken only after Supreme Court intervened."
Widening of national highways in Malwa region was done with central funds including the Reverse Osmosis (RO) system set up in villages from World Bank grant, he said.
