Badal gave the in-principal approval at a meeting with representatives of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) and senior officers of the Punjab Urban Development Authority, an official spokesman said here.
The Chief Minister asked INTACH to prepare a detailed plan to set up a heritage hotel over the remaining portion of the vacant building of Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Amritsar, he said.
INTACH Chief Architect Divya Gupta informed the meeting that INTACH would act as a nodal agency for setting up of Rs 5.2 crore "Amritsar Haat".
The Haat would display the rich Punjabi culture by creating an environment of a traditional village market with synthesis of handicrafts, food and cultural activities.
