"It is unfortunate that she has chosen the sacred day of Independence for this motive," 87-year-old Badal said.
Continuing further, the five-time Chief Minister said, "Dr (Navjot Kaur) Sidhu is like my daughter and I have already liberally allocated funds for the development of her constituency. But, the step taken by her on this august occasion, when the entire country was paying tribute to its freedom fighters, was totally undesirable and unwarranted".
Chief Minister Badal, who was replying to questions of reporters on the sidelines of a function at Issru, near Ludhiana, said that the alliance between SAD and BJP was everlasting and firm.
Asked about Navjot Kaur's action and her outbursts against the Akalis in the past over a host of issues, Badal said that it was the leadership of BJP to decide about the statements of Dr Sidhu.

However, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had sought to downplay the decision of Navjot Kaur to proceed on an indefinite hunger strike.
Sukhbir Badal had told reporters in Bathinda that the SAD-BJP alliance was everlasting and it was an unflinching bond.
Meanwhile, refuting the possibility of any central investigation in the Dinanagar terror attack last month, the Chief Minister categorically said that the state police was fully capable of probing the matter.
The Punjab Police has already proved its mettle by successfully thwarting the attack, he said.
