Badal reviews arrangements for International Yoga Day

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed arrangements for the second International Yoga Day to be held here on June 21 in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Chief Guest.
Presiding over a meeting with the delegation led by BJP state President and Union Minister Vijay Sampla to monitor the preparations for the event, Badal asked Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal to put in place all logistics, facilities for transportation and refreshment for 10,000 yoga volunteers to be selected for the programme.
Kaushal said detailed instructions had already been issued to all the Deputy Commissioners to conduct the International Yoga Day 2016 at district and block levels across the state.
District Nodal Officers and Deputy Nodal Officers have been appointed in all the districts to finalise the training schedule of the registered participants besides distribution of Common Yoga Protocol CDs to the registered users.
The Chief Secretary said so far 21,670 yoga volunteers from Punjab have been registered on the official website to confirm their participation in the main event at Capitol Complex here against 10,000 volunteers to be finally selected for the main event.
He said that a full dress rehearsal would be organised on June 19.

"These volunteers were being imparted yoga training by the experts/master trainers from Patanjali and Department of Ayush/Ayurveda in special camps organised at various places across the state," he said.
The official further apprised that Identity Cards would be issued to the participants for the main event in coordination with the administration of the Union Territory.
A group leader representing a batch of 50 yoga volunteers each would be selected to ensure better coordination with the organisers for successful conduct of the event.
