In a letter to Khanna, the Chief Minister drew his attention also to the manner in which the administration had allegedly failed to act decisively against those who had assaulted the SAD members.
The Chief Minister urged Khanna to use his good office to dissuade Delhi government from going ahead with its move to "sabotage the will of the Sikh masses and subverting the spirit and intent of the Supreme Court orders through an amendment aimed at changing the electoral procedure".
Badal said the root cause of the incident was the "highly provocative move of Delhi government to interfere in the religious affairs of Sikhs" through a proposed amendment to the electoral procedure of the DSGMC.
