Hussain Ahmad Najadi, the first managing director of the Bank, and his wife, Cheong Mei Kuen, 49, were shot dead yesterday afternoon while the couple were coming out of a Chinese temple.
Najadi, who holds an Iranian passport, died on the spot at the 2 pm incident.
A man walked up to him from behind and fired multiple shots from close range. Four bullets pierced his left rib cage. He was also shot in his chest and stomach, police said.
The cause of the attack has not been ascertained but a contentious business deal could be a motive, police said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Najib Razak said today that in view of the recent spate of shooting cases, the government will bring up the issues of serious crimes in the next Parliamentary session.
The Prime Minister has also urged police to take action on the recent shooting cases.
