Justice R S Ramanathan dismissed the bail plea of the two students, accepting the prosecution argument that it should not be given as the case was in the initial stages.
On April 16, a student of F X Polytechnic College in that city had reported late for the exams and was pulled up by Assistant Professor Elango. This led to an altercation between them following which another professor Subramaniam and the college bus driver intervened and rebuked him.
Later, reportedly unable to bear the humiliation of being beaten up by his students, Subramaniam committed suicide. Following this six students were arrested.
Two of the students then moved court, seeking bail but their pleas were twice dismissed by Madras High Court bench.
They again moved court, but their bail plea was turned down today.
