The petitioners alleged that the police arrested several innocent persons, including them, and falsely implicated them. They were picked up from their houses and slapped with cases, they contended.
They submitted that all sections under which they are charged are bailable except Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Destruction) Act.
They said a peaceful protest was conducted to condemn the custodial death of Shameel Ahmed. But taking advantage of the peaceful protest organized by the family members of Ahmed, some anti-social elements created trouble by indulging in unlawful activities and attacked police and vehicles.
They said they were observing fasting in the holy month of Ramzan, which is mandatory for every Muslim.

Justice R Subbaiah adjourned the case to June 21.
The Judge also adjourned hearing on another anticipatory bail petition filed by Martin Premraj, Inspector of Police, who was allegedly involved in the death of Ahmed to Monday.
