Outrage over bail to key 26/11 accused Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi resonated in Lok Sabha today as members across parties condemned it, saying it showed Pakistan's "double-face" on terrorism and urged the government to strongly take up the matter with the neighbour.
Raising the issue, Leader of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge said the whole country was concerned and government must make its stand clear.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Did he want him to take steps together to tackle terrorism? We want to know his stand. If such accused (Lakhvi) are released one after another, it will do no good," he said.
Kharge said it was sad that Lakhvi was granted bail a day after Parliament passed a resolution, expressing outrage over the massacre of children by terrorists in Peshawar.
Kirit Somaiya (BJP) said Pakistan released the accused instead of handing him over to India and the government should pressurise it to have Lakhvi punished in an Indian court.
Kalyan Banerjee (TMC) said entire finding of the Pakistani court was "totally perverse" while Mohammed Salim (CPI-M) said the development cannot be tolerated.
