Lok Insaaf Party chief and MLA Simrajit Singh Bains today demanded setting up of a permanent panel to probe into "false cases" registered against people, especially "activists of political adversaries" of the ruling Congress.
Addressing a dharna by Dalit activists here, he said Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has set up Justice (retd) Mehtab Singh Gill Commission to probe into "false cases" registered during 10 years of SAD-BJP rule.
"But what about the false cases registered during the last 13 months of the Congress government," Bains asked.
"A permanent commission of enquiry should be set up to enquire into false cases registered during Amarinder Singh's government," he said, adding an application by an aggrieved person would be enough for by such a commission to probe the complaint.
Dubbing as shameful the April 13 clash over the installation of a board and renaming of a "chowk" (intersection) in Phagwara, Bains demanded suspension of all those police and civil administration officials in whose presence the incident had taken place.
He also demanded cancellation of FIRs registered against Dalit activists in connection with the incident.
