Baitha stuns Ranjit to enter semis

Rahul Baitha, who lost his U-19 boys' tie to a lower-ranked player on Thursday, stunned second seed Ranjit Singh in the men's section of the Otters Club Open Squash Tournament on Friday.

Maharashtra's Baitha, seeded 5th, won in three straight games -- 11-6, 11-1, 11-5 -- against Singh, who was representing Services, and stormed into the semi-finals.

In another quarter-final match, Maharashtra's Tushar Shahani fought a tough battle against top-seeded state-mate Abhishek Pradhan before going down in four games.

Pradhan won 11-6, 8-11, 11-2, 14-12 to book a place in the semi-finals.

In the women's section, Maharashtra's Sanika Choudhari had an easy outing as she completely dominated her state-mate Aakanksha Rao to secure an 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 victory in under 30 minutes and advance to the semi-finals.

In another tie, second seed Sachika Balvani of Maharashtra edged past 5th seed Radhika Rathore of Madhya Pradesh to enter the semis.
