Bajaj Auto today reported a 26 per cent increase in motorcycle sales at 2,64,249 units in March.
The company had sold 2,09,937 units in the year-ago period.
Total vehicle sales last month stood at 3,05,800 units, up 22 per cent, as against 2,50,604 units in the same month a year earlier, Bajaj Auto said in a BSE filing.
The two-wheeler major said its exports rose 3 per cent during the month to 1,01,519 units from 98,703 units in the corresponding year-ago period.
In the commercial vehicles category, Bajaj Auto's sale in March increased by 2 per cent to 41,551 units compared with 40,667 units in the year-ago month.
For the fiscal ended March 31, 2016, the company sold 33,58,252 bikes, up 2 per cent, from 32,92,084 units in 2014-15.

"After a 15 per cent growth in motorcycle exports last
year, the numbers fell by 4.1 per cent to 1.46 million units; and, similarly, on the back of a 9.2 per cent growth in FY2015, exports of three-wheelers dropped by 1.6 per cent to some 280,000 units," Bajaj informed shareholders.
This does not take away from the fact that the company remains India's largest exporter of both motorcycles and three-wheelers and it still enjoys significant market shares, he added.
"In fact it has improved its market share in important geographies: 24 per cent in markets where it operates in Latin America, driven by the Pulsar 200NS; and 33 per cent share in the relevant markets of Africa where the Boxer continues to lead our motorcycle sales. I hope that exports will pick up when some of these markets abroad get into better economic and financial shape," Bajaj said.
