Congress MP Partap Singh Bajwa today asked the Amarinder Singh led Punjab government to release a 'white paper' highlighting the alleged "misdeeds" of the previous SAD-BJP regime and sought action against Akali leaders who were found to be involved in "scams".
Bajwa, who is considered Amarinder Singh's bete noire, also asked the state government to fulfil poll promises including giving plots to scheduled caste and backward caste families and disbursement of old age pension and implementation of 'Atta Dal' scheme.
The former state Congress chief made these demands in a meeting of Congress MPs and MLA for pre-budget discussion which was called by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh here.
"I told finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal to honour the promise made in the Vidhan Sabha for bringing a white paper on the acts of omission and commission of previous Akali regime and then take action against those found involved in misdeeds," he said.
Bajwa added that he reminded the government that instead of taking action against Akali leaders allegedly involved in "looting" the state, it was the SAD that has launched 'Pol Khol' rallies against the state government.
Bajwa said it cannot be considered to be political vendetta if action is taken against Akalis who allegedly "destroyed" the state. "Hold them accountable," he demanded.
Meanwhile, another Congress MP Shamsher Singh Dullo asked the state government to act against "sand, land and transport mafias".
Dullo also took a dig at the state government's Job mela initiative, saying that the output of such melas was not up to the mark. Dullo further sought debt waiver for the land less farmers in the state.
