Baker Tilly ties up with DHC to set up skill centres

Leading global accountancy and business advisory network Baker Tilly International has re-entered the country by forming an alliance with the city-based auditing and accounting major Desai Haribhakti Consultants (DHC).
Under the agreement, both the partners will set up a global skill centre here.
The proposed skill centre, named the Global Centre of Excellence, will come up in different parts of the country, where DHC has its offices and will create a talent pool of 5,000 professionals to serve the global market over the next three years.
The timing of the alliance and announcement to open skill centres is important as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed skill development as one of the focus areas to turn the country into a manufacturing powerhouse through his 'Make in India' drive.
DHC, which is the sixth largest domestic auditing and accounting firm with over Rs 180 crore in revenue, will train as many as 5,000 tax and accounting professionals over the next three years, Baker Tilly president and chief executive Geoff Barnes and DHC chairman Dilip Desai told PTI here.
The Global Centre of Excellence will function as a high-end knowledge centre. It will hire CAs, management graduates, IT professionals and others and develop their skills to offer specialised services in assurance, risk advisory, global taxation, corporate finance, including M&As and knowledge services, Barnes said.
Explaining further he said, the objective is to train and professionals across the Baker Tilly network to offer customised services to each member country professionals according to the auditing and accounting standards of each country.
