Happy with 'Bakita Byaktigato' getting National crown, director Srijit Mukherjee says this reminds him how the film's maker Prodipto Chakroborty hunted for theatres to screen the movie and reach out.
"Getting this film to the public remained his motto. He wished it was seen at as many places as possible. It reminds of Swapner Din (by Buddhadev Dasgupta) where the film maker tries various means to connect to the audience," Srijit told PTI here.
'Bakita Byktigato' has 'Srijit Mukherjee Presents' in the title card as the new age director has egged on Prodipto to go ahead with the shooting of the allegorical tale of one's trip to neverland with actors and non-actors.
Revisiting the days when Autograph was made and he was a first time director, Srijit said, "Any film maker wants to be more heard in his first work and sets out on his journey thereon."
National award recipient 'Shabdo' actor Ritwik Chakroborty, in the prime role of a docu-shooter travelling to the interiors in Bakita Byaktigato, says "A film's true worth can be gauged 15-20 years after its making.
"So let's see if the film can be compared among the very best with the passage of time," Ritwik said.

"Prodipto made this film for himself. Which later on turned into everybody's film," the IFFI-screened Phoring actor said.
Refusing to christen 'Bakita Byaktigato' as an out and out Indy (Independent) film, Ritwik said, "I don't consider it as an Indy film. It is a film having got recognition but again I don't want to make wholesome mainstream flicks."
"Going by the response of the common audience, whoever has seen the film, if aided by proper distribution network a film can reach the public," Ritwik said.
