Bakrid was celebrated across Telangana on Monday with Muslims offering prayers in large numbers at Eidgah Miralam, Eidgah Madannapet, Eidgah Qutub Shahi tombs and others in the city.
The hockey ground at Masab Tank and the military ground, Mehdipatnam, also witnessed major congregrations.
They sacrificed goats commemorating the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim.
Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, state Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and other leaders conveyed their greetings to Muslims on the occasion.
Congress said the Muslims of Kamareddy, led by party leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir, passed a resolution before Bakrid prayers, seeking action against Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for his allegedly derogatory comments against Kashmiri women.
BJP MLA in Telangana Raja Singh said (in a video release) he would like to appeal for putting an end to killing of cows in the country so that Hindus and Muslims can live in harmony.
