Bal Pharma today welcomed the government's decision to impose anti-dumping duty on import of bulk drug Gliclazide, used for making anti-diabetic medicine, from China.
In October, the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) issued a notification for imposing anti-dumping duties on bulk drug Gliclazide originating from China.
"With this anti-dumping notification, the company will have a distinctive advantage to consolidate its market share in domestic and international markets," Bal Pharma, a leading manufacturer of Gliclazide, said in a filing to the BSE.
The bulk drug contributes 'substantially' to company's revenues, it added.
