In order to save birds from electrocution and avoid other such cases, Jaipur authorities today banned a use of 'Chinese manjha' (Chinese made thread) while flying kites and promulgated prohibitory orders till January 2015 in this connection.
"The prohibitory orders would be effective from December one to January 28, 2015," an official spokesperson said, quoting District Collector K Kunal.
No person or kite fliers would be allowed to use Chinese manjha while flying kites during this period in entire Jaipur district including rural areas, he said.
Anyone storing, selling or transporting Chinese made thread would be dealt under the laws, he warned.
People have also been ordered not to fly kites from 6 AM to 8 AM, and 5 PM to 7 PM during the stipulated period to save birds, he said.
Jaipur Police Commissioner was directed to follow and issue the guidelines in the state capital for public awareness.
There were a number of cases of electrocution in the Jaipur district by kite fliers who generally prefer Chinese manjha made up of metallic contents.
