Normal life was today affected in Manipur on the first day of the 38-hour bandh to press for passing of three bills in Assembly relating to introduction of Inner Line Permit in the state.
Vehicular movements, business establishments, educational institutions were closed. Attendance in government offices remained almost nil, an official said.
The bandh, which started at 4 AM, was peaceful barring an incident of bursting of tear gas shells to disperse a mob in the state capital, a police official said, adding that nobody was injured.
The bandh was called by the Joint Council of the Inner Line Permit System ( JCILPS).
