Bandh observed in MP over PEB scam

The state-wide bandh called by Congress to press for the demand for a CBI inquiry into the alleged scam in the Professional Examination Board (PEB) passed off peacefully today.
There were no reports of untoward incident anywhere due to the bandh although cases were filed against Youth Congress workers at some places including Indore and Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh Congress claimed the bandh was successful.
"The bandh was successful and completely peaceful," Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Satyadev Katare told reporters here.
The bandh affected normal life in the state except in Ujjain and Sidhi where bandh was not observed, he said.

Ujjain and Sidhi had been excluded from bandh due to a religious function and municipal elections respectively.

People had responded to the bandh call on their own and they was no coercion to keep the business establishments shut, Katare added.
He alleged false cases were filed against Youth Congress workers at many places including Indore and Bhopal.
"Bandh was the first step taken by Congress against the BJP government in the state and such agitations would continue," he said.
