Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who was out on bail, had been asked by the Supreme Court (SC) to surrender before a lower court concerned by today.
Alamgir, 67, appeared before the court around 3:00pm today and moved three bail pleas seeking an extension of his bail.
His bail plea was rejected by Metropolitan Magistrate Maruf Hossain, saying he has "no jurisdiction" as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader was denied bail by the Supreme Court, The Daily Star reported.
On August 31, the SC extended the bail order for six weeks more. On October 6, it further extended till yesterday its bail order for Alamgir on medical several cases, got bail from the High Court and lower courts in other similar cases.
