With the arrest of two men, including a Bangladeshi national, Delhi police today claimed to have busted a Bangladeshi dacoit gang which had allegedly committed murder and robberies in Preet Vihar and Anand Vihar areas.
A cash reward of Rs one lakh was announced for solving the Preet Vihar dacoity-cum-murder case, police said.
According to police, Badshah alias Kabir, a resident of Bagerhat in Bangladesh, along with his accomplice Mohd Tasleem, a resident of Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested after months of investigation and intelligence generation.
The duo along with their other associates had broken into the house of a retired senior lawyer, Sumer Kumar Dutta, in Preet Vihar on April 25 and smothered his son Animesh before fleeing away with cash and jewellery.
In a similar incident, they had looted one Dimple Kohli and her daughter Gunisha at gun point in their home in Anand Vihar on May 27 and fled away with cash, jewellery and electronic items.
"Efforts are on to recover the looted booty and nab other members of the gang," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ajay Kumar.
