Bank asks borrower to pay token amount of Rs 1000

The matter of non-payment of dues by one D Dharmalingam, was taken up by a Lok Adalat Bench, set up by the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority, to settle pre-litigation cases pending before the Chennai Divisional Office of Karur Vysya Bank.

The bank 'on humanitarian grounds' finalised a settlement for a sum of Rs 1,000 repayable to it against the outstanding amount of Rs 96,903, the authority said in a release today.

The man has agreed to pay the amount.

Following the accident, the man was unable to work and repay the loan, with interest.
