Kolhapur police in Maharashtra have registered a case against an employee of a private bank for allegedly using offensive language while speaking to a credit card defaulter.
He has not been arrested yet, said an official of the Juna Rajwada police station.
The Mumbai-based employee of RBL Bank allegedly used offensive language while speaking on phone to a customer who had defaulted on credit card dues, the police officer said.
Police registered a case under relevant IPC sections, he said, without giving details.
The customer should "sell" women members in his family if he could not pay the outstanding amount, the employee, whose name was not disclosed, allegedly said.
Local media channels aired an audio clip of the purported conversation, which led to the registration of case.

In a statement, the bank said it "condemns and disapproves the language used on the telephone call".
"We do not authorise usage of such language on our behalf," it said, adding it was conducting an enquiry and will take appropriate action.
The customer was a defaulter, and the bank would continue its collection efforts as part of the regular business activity, the statement added.
