Bank officer arrested for taking bribe from farmer

A bank officer here was arrested along with one other person for allegedly taking bribe from a farmer against issuing him a 'Kisan Credit Card.'
After a complaint in this regard by the farmer Harish Chandra, CBI and anti-corruption sleuths laid a trap yesterday and arrested Bhupendra, assistant manager at Punjab National Bank, along with another person Nitin, police said.
During questioning, Bhupendra confessed to have demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Harish, they said.
The records of other Kisan Credit Card holders are also being probed to find out any possible malpractice in their issuing.
