The number of farmers in Delhi and Chandigarh is low and their contribution to agriculture production negligible but they are getting more agriculture loans while states like Bihar is being neglected, Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi told reporters here.

The Centre should take action against the banks as such loans were used for some other purposes, he said.

Modi said according to NABARD data, Delhi and Chandigarh received agriculture loans to the tune of Rs 32,400 crore in 2009-10, while Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Jharkhand together got Rs 31,000 crore during the same period.

Referring to allotment of kerosene for BPL families, he alleged the Centre was discriminating Bihar.

"While each BPL families receive 12.5 litre of kerosene per month in Delhi, Bihar's BPL household get hardly three litre per month," he said.
