Bar council of TN, Puducherry removes 2 advocates from rolls

The Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry here has removed two advocates from its rolls.
Advocates S Jimraj Milton and S Parthasarathy were removed from the rolls of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on October 15.
The Committee took the decision after hearing arguments from the counsel of the advocates.
In its final order, the committee said "on the basis of evidences produced by both sides, this committee has come to the conclusion that the charges framed against the respondents are proved beyond reasonable doubt and the respondents are liable to be punished. Further, the punishment must be an example for other lawyers, who create disturbances to the court proceedings."

"The advocates must maintain the decorum inside the court campus. If anybody violates the same, it amounts to interference of the administration of justice. Every advocate owes duty to safeguard the interest of the court," it said.
The matter relates to shouting of slogans against judges by some advocates on September 16 last year when a bench was to hear a suo motu contempt plea against some Madurai-based advocates.

In this connection, the BTCP had already suspended six advocates from practising.
After hearing arguments, the disciplinary committee removed the two advocates from its rolls and suspended another advocate S Mahendran for a period of three years.

The Committee allowed three other advocates-- S Mahaveer Shivaji, D Vincent Prabakar and K Kesavan--to practise after treating their suspended period (from November 23 last) till the date of this order as punishment.
