Barley prices rose Rs 23.50 to Rs 1,421 per quintal in futures trade today on widening of positions by participants coupled with upbeat trend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley to be delivered in May hardened by Rs 23.50, or 1.68 per cent, to Rs 1,421 per quintal, with a business turnover of 12,580 open lots.
Likewise, the delivery in June rallied by Rs 23.50, or 1.67 per cent, to Rs 1,434 per quintal, having an open interest of 520 lots.
Marketmen said, the rise in barley prices at futures trade was mostly due to raising of bets by participants, triggered by a firm trend at the spot markets on paucity of stocks amid pick-up in demand.
