At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley futures for delivery in April climbed by Rs 27, or 2.27 per cent, to Rs 1,216 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,800 lots.
The most-active May contract gained Rs 24, or 2.02 per cent, to Rs 1,213 per quintal, in an open interest of 20,920 lots.
Marketmen attributed the gain in barley prices in futures trade to rising demand from consuming industries in spot markets.
