Barmer sizzles at 40 deg C in Rajasthan

Barmer was recorded as the hottest place in Rajasthan today with a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, even as the MeT Department predicted rise in mercury in western parts of the state.
Barmer was followed by Jaisalmer which registered its maximum at 39.5 degrees Celsius.
Mercury in Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kota and Churu settled at 38, 37.5, 37.4 and 37 degrees Celsius respectively, the weatherman said.
The Department said the day temperatures at other stations were below 37 degrees Celsius.
It said the the mercury is likely to rise in western parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
