A day after a book desecration incident in Barnala village, police have apprehended the accused here today.
Lakhwinder Singh was arrested after a case was registered on the basis of a statement of his brother-in-law Gurdev Singh.
Singh claimed the accused had taken money from one Sukha Singh for the act and was planning to falsely implicate Sukha for the crime.
"Lakhwinder was speaking loudly that he has taken money from Sukha Singh and he will tear the pages of Gutka Sahib and will falsely implicate Sukha," police said.
Gurdev tried to prevent Lakhwinder, but couldn't stop him from the desecration act, police said.
