Baroda 348/5 on first day against Saurashtra

Opening batsman Saurabh Wakaskar struck a sparkling 128 while Aditya Waghmode missed out on century by six runs as Baroda piled on 348 for five on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group B match against Saurashtra here today.
Wakaskar hit 12 fours and three sixes in his 193-ball innings and shared two crucial partnerships before being the the third Baroda batsman out after the visiting side elected to bat first Saurashtra Cricket Association here.
He first stitched a 103-run stand with Dhiren Mistry (45) for the opening wicket and then shared 131 runs with Waghmode (94) for the third wicket before being out in the 61st over.
Irfan Pathan contributed 37 runs while his brother and captain Yusuf Pathan was batting on 32 along with wicketkeeper Pinal Shah (batting 2) when the stumps were drawn for the day after 90 overs of play.
For Saurashtra, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja grabbed two wickets for 104 runs while Chirag Jani, Vishal Joshi and Kamlesh Makvana took a wicket apiece.
