Base metals falls on subdued demand

Most of the base metal prices fell at the non-ferrous metal market here today due to stockist selling amidst subdued demand from industrial users, despite slightly higher London metals Exchange (LME) cues.
The industrial metals edged up at the LME in the early trade, on technical buying, but was within reach of 8-month lows after poor data spurred fears that US recovery may be slowing and dragging on the global economy, with attention turning to a heap of Chinese data.
Nickel and tin slumped by Rs 15 per kg each to Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,375 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 1,015 and Rs 1,390.
Copper sheet cutting slid by Rs 8 per kg to Rs 454 from Rs 462.
Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar slipped by Rs 7 per kg each to Rs 475 and Rs 503 from Rs 482 and Rs 510 and copper armiture dropped by Rs 6 per kg to Rs 458 from Rs 464.
Copper scrap heavy, copper utensil scrap and brass sheet cutting also declined by Rs 4 per kg each to Rs 468, Rs 435 and Rs 330 as against Rs 472, Rs 439 and Rs 334, respectively.
Brass utensils scrap, aluminium utensils scrap, and zinc moved down by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 319, Rs 111 and Rs 138 from Rs 322, Rs 114 and Rs 141.
Lead edged down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 139 from Rs 141.
