Base metals rise on renewed demand, global cues

The industrial metals surged at the LME following US lawmakers struck deal to avoid fiscal cliff as well as good Chinese economic data boosted the sentiment.

Nickel and tin spurted by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,110 and Rs 1,425 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 1,105 and Rs 1,420.

Copper cable scrap and copper wire bar gained by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 495 and Rs 523 from Rs 492 and Rs 520 previously.

Copper scrap heavy and copper armature moved up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 485 and Rs 474 as against Rs 483 and Rs 472 yesterday.

Copper utensils scrap, copper sheet cutting, brass sheet cuttings, zinc and lead all inched up by a rupee per kg each to Rs 448, Rs 468, Rs 332, Rs 147 and Rs 128, respectively.
